What is a NDE? A NDE is a Near-death experience refers to a broad range of personal experiences associated with impending death, encompassing multiple possible sensations including detachment from the body; feelings of levitation; extreme fear; total serenity, security, or warmth; the experience of absolute dissolution; and the presence of a light, which some people interpret as a deity. Some see NDEs as a paranormal and spiritual glimpse into the afterlife.
The core experience seems to be similar across cultures, but the details of the experience (figures, beings, scenery), and the interpretation of the experience, varies a lot from culture to culture, and from individual to individual.
No individual NDE report is precisely the same as another, there are many similarities. The basic gist of the experience resembles the following:
Although I have no particular religion myself I do believe in the afterlife. I believe death is a cultural experience and NDEs are real in every way. Many others believe it is hallucination caused by chemicals being released into the brain as the brain is dying. If so, then I think it is just part of the process. The Near Death Experience is based on the inner teachings of the individual, the thoughts, and ideas of spiritual truths and so on. What they expect in death is what they find.
During many NDE's individuals have experienced life altering characteristics; the bad became the good and the good became better; there are some that snapped like a dry twig as they failed to grasp the event and became worse after the event due to their inner beliefs conflicting with the event.
Be careful for the people who study negative religions and negative parts of religions. It’s not god’s wrath you have to worry about it’s your own. You create your own experience in Death. Clear your conscious and improve yourself for the good and have a better death.

Interview: Confidential Paranormal Investigators (CPI)
Confidential Paranormal Investigators (CPI), based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, was founded in October 2006 by Walt Baker and Kathy Santini-Richardson.
Tracy DeVore: What drew you to paranormal investigation?
Kathy Santini-Richardson: Since I was a young child I have been interested in the paranormal. My grandmother would tell us stories of hauntings in Italy and in Colorado where she lived when she was young. In Chicago, she owned a house that we would hear (footsteps) walking up and down the stairs, watch the doorknob turn and hear someone walking above us. We would think it was our cousins home but upon calling for them we would realize there wasn't anyone home.
I have always and will continue to search for something concrete that even the most hardcore skeptics would have to scratch their heads over.
TD: What does a regular investigation consist of (do you have a set routine or just “wing it”)?
KSR: It is a routine, but there are times that we have to be flexible and investigate according to what the location demands.
Before we do the actual investigation, two members go to the location that is in need of an investigation. We call this a preliminary investigation. We meet the client, do an interview asking what they have been seeing, hearing and experiencing. We also try to meet and speak with anyone who has witnessed any of the happenings. We will also have base readings done to determine the EMF levels and also temperature readings. Pictures will also be taken of the location.
If an investigation is warranted, I would then schedule an evening to bring in CPI members. Our researcher would start researching the property. Certain information is shared with the team that will go in and try to debunk what is being experienced. Teams are formed and base readings are conducted again. We will also set up a four-camera Digital Video Recorder (DVR) system to record hot spots for the duration of the investigation, along with possible motion cameras. Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVPs) are conducted with digital and analog recorders. We always do a quiet observation to get familiar with the natural sounds that occur in the location. Teams will rotate so each team will have the opportunity to investigate the complete location. Members may choose to video record and/or take still pictures along with doing EVP sessions.
About two or three weeks after the investigation, after all data has been viewed, listened to and analyzed, a reveal with the client is conducted. We supply the client with any findings and a copy of the video from the DVR. We encourage our clients to view the DVDs in case they see something we may have missed. We also give the client the research report at the time of the reveal.
TD: What’s the strangest thing your group has encountered during an investigation? Where did it happen?
KSR: There are some strange things that have happened. One of the things we like to do is set up the DVR system along with recorders and leave the location for an hour or so. Once when we did this at a farm, one of the investigators captured a recording of the side door opening and someone walking into the house. Nothing was captured on the DVR though. There was also another investigation when Amanda and I were doing an EVP session in the basement. At the same time that Amanda felt something grab her hand, there was a spike on the Electromagnetic Field (EMF) meter which was hooked up to the Data Logger. Unfortunately most of the strange things we have experienced have turned out to have natural explanations!
TD: Does your group allow non-members to accompany you on investigations?
KSR: Typically we do not, but I wouldn't say never. It would depend on the investigation and the person requesting to attend. We have had homeowners join us for the investigation. That is not always the best scenario but sometimes it cannot be avoided.
TD: What does your group have planned for the near future?
KSR: I am in the process of setting up and scheduling three new investigations that came our way. There are also investigations that other members are working on. We also like to go to public investigations where we can rent a particular place out for a private investigation. We just investigated Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and earlier this year we went to Moundsville Prison in WV.
CPI meetings are held in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, at the home of Kathy Santini-Richardson. To learn more about this group, please visit their website at www.cpiteam.net.

Data logging technology helps paranormal investigators

Data logging technology helps paranormal investigators
In recent years, interest in ghost hunting has increased. Television shows such as Ghost Hunters, Most Haunted, and Paranormal State have intrigued many, and curiosity in the equipment used in these programs has grown.
Confidential Paranormal Investigators (CPI), a Wisconsin-based team of ghost hunters, is just one example of paranormal researchers using modern-day technology to document or debunk paranormal activity. To ensure the integrity of their research, the CPI team relies on a variety of tools including temperature data loggers, which are used to monitor temperature fluctuations during an investigation.
Walt Baker is the technical manager and founder of CPI. “When it comes to paranormal investigations, we don’t know what we are looking for so we use a range of tools to provide background environmental data,” explains Baker. “We are using technology to provide us with evidence that can support or demystify any paranormal experiences.”
During an investigation, Baker and his team employ Onset’s HOBO data loggers. The loggers are mounted at different heights in order to detect any significant fluctuations in temperature.
“Non contact IR thermometers are used to find the base temperatures, along with natural explanations for temperature differences like a drafty window,” explains Baker. “The thermometers are useless, however for locating columns of varying temperature, like a cold spot. For that, we use data loggers to measure and record the ambient temperature.”
During an investigation, each logger deployed takes temperature measurements every second. “The loggers give us a date and time stamp,” says Baker. “If someone on our team has a personal experience, or if there is a spike on the Electromagnetic Field (EMF) meter, we go back and check the data set at that specific time to see if there was a temperature change during the event and decide whether or not there is a correlation.”
After an investigation, the collected data is downloaded onto a PC and analyzed using Onset’s HOBO ware Pro™ graphing and analysis software.
HOBO ware, which is available for PC and Macintosh computers, features easy logger launch and readout functions, powerful data plotting capabilities, and an intuitive graphical user interface.
Baker emphasized the importance of substantiating paranormal activity with environmental data. “At first glance, we look at the data we’ve collected to see if anything significant sticks out,” he states. “For my team, it’s more important to validate an experience with data. During one of our investigations, we caught an object on video and we were able to go back and look at spikes in EMF readings and verify if there were temperature changes during that exact time.”
According to Baker, the video footage determined that the speed of the object captured on film was traveling at 60 miles per hour. “After reviewing the video footage, we were able to dismiss a lot of objects like bugs and dust,” he says. “The finding was even more interesting because we had a spike in our EMF field. However, the room temperature didn’t fluctuate. A lot of our findings are explainable, but we use the data as backup for experiences we can’t explain.”
Baker concludes, “There is no ghost meter. We are using this equipment to supplement the human experience and try to learn more about this phenomenon. Correlating the information we get from the data loggers with other techniques gives validity to our investigations.”

that of a life-sized statue memorializing a 6-year-old girl
named Inez Clark who was struck and killed by lightning. It is
claimed that the statue disappears from its glass case during
thunderstorms and that the ghost of the little girl goes roaming
around in the graveyard until the storm is over. This Cemetery

Clarence Darrow Memorial Bridge is said to be haunted by the ghost
of Clarence Darrow. A lawyer and leading member of the American Civil
Liberties Union, Darrow was best known for defending teenage thrill
killers Leopold and Loeb in their trial for murdering a 14-year-old
boy named Bobby Franks. Darrow died from heart disease on March 13th,
1938. His ashes were scattered across the bridge and the Jackson Park
Lagoon which overlooked Darrows home on 1537 E. 60th street. Every year
on the date that Darrow died, a wreath laying ceremony is held to
commemorate his life and death. Reports of visual apparitions have been
circulating here since 1990.
9.Rosehill Cemetery
(5800 N. Ravenswood Ave., Chicago)
Rosehill Cemetery is the biggest cemetery in the city of Chicago spanning
over 350 acres. Dating back to 1859, it is also the cities oldest cemetery
as well. The remains of over 200,000 individuals are buried here. John G.
Shedd, Aaron Montgomery Ward, and Richard Warren Sears are all buried in
the cemeteries large community mausoleum which is said to be haunted by
Ward. Another smaller mausoleum at Rosehill, the Hopkinson crypt, is also
said to be haunted. Reports stating that on the anniversary of the death
of Charles Hopkinson, a soft but gruesome moaning rises from his crypt.
10.Jane Addams Hull House
(800 S. Halsted street, Chicago)
A national historic landmark, Hull House was built in 1856. In 1889 Miss
Jane Addams opened up the house to help hundreds of people. Her campaigns
for social and labor reforms were well known the world over and she won a
Nobel Peace Prize in 1931 for her efforts. One of the most famous stories
to come out of Hull House is that of the devil baby. Rumors that Jane
Addams took in a baby that had horns, pointed ears, and a tail were so
wide-spread, that within a few days hundreds of people came to Hull House
trying to see it for themselves. To this day it is still unknown weather
or not a devil baby ever existed. Jane Addams herself believed Hull House
to be haunted by a previous owner of the house, Mrs. Charles Hull, who
died in the building. From full body apparitions, to loud phantom foot
steps, Hull House is definitely one of the most haunted historic sites in
the city.

THERE is an ongoing debate, or at least spirited discussion, among ghost hunters and paranormal investigators about the validity of orbs as paranormal evidence. Orbs are anomalous spots that sometimes show up in photographs. Most are white, some are multicolored; some look solid, others appear textured some are see through and some appear to be moving with tails behind. Orbs can be lots of shapes and size’s.
Many people and ghost hunters believe they are evidence of ghosts or a ghost trying to manifest itself that does not have the ability to manifest into a full body apparition or psychic energy manifesting as these glowing balls of light. A growing number of researchers, however, are concluding that orbs are nothing more than dust particles illuminated by the camera flash. Actually, researchers will usually say that “most” such orbs are the result of dust, being reluctant to say that “all” are dust, leaving room for the possibility of a paranormal explanation, But if a orb can be a glowing ball of light shouldn’t we see it with our naked eye being that we are in complete darkness when doing a ghost hunt I know that any kind of flash or a glowing ball of light would be pretty
Easy to notice and would pull your attention to that area. How did orbs in photographs become associated with the paranormal in the first place? In other words, why do they even need to be disproved? Yes, anomalous white spots or colored orbs occasionally appear in photos... How do we suddenly make the great leap to say that they are spirit energy trying to manifest itself into something or trying to communicate with us? That’s quite a leap. I suspect it came from people who where doing ghost hunts in complete darkness taken photo’s and the flash illuminated dust particles in the air and this is where we get orb’s, But can I say that all picture’s with orbs in them are just dust. No I am not saying that at all, But It is to easy to debunk any kind of orb or anomalous white spot to be able to present it as paranormal evidence. Many ghost hunter’s have there own views on orb’s some believe it to be paranormal and some believe as I do that it is to easy to debunk. This is just my opinion in no way am I trying to trash someone who believes it to be paranormal. I just think that there is
So many other area’s of the paranormal with
Unexplained phenomenon that is a lot harder to debunk and
That is were our energy should be concentrated towards and
Not towards something as a orb which is impossible to
Prove it to be paranormal. This was written By Joe a investigator for cpi and does not reflect the views of the whole team..
This is probably the most accepted theory about what ghost are, at least among those who study this phenomenon. In some detail, is that ghost are a collection of energy that somehow found a way to manifest itself within our physical realm. In affect ghost are simply a collection of naturally occurring, ambient energy that possesses the ability to interact with in the linear time and space. From a purely scientific standpoint this seems most fantastic, the idea is not nearly remarkable once we recognize that everything including ourselves is actually made up of particles of energy in the form of atoms that appear, at least from our perspective, as solid matter. But there is nothing about us that is solid in the truest sense of the word. The atoms that make up our physical bodies are composed largely of empty space, Making our apparent solidity really only an illusion. A ghost then may be nothing more than what we are only on a greatly diminished level. Ghost may be nothing more than people who possess the ability to attract enough energy to become solid enough to be seen.Though not solid enough to become flesh and blood. Making that truly nothing more than shadows of their former selves. The most common theory as to how this might work id that disembodied cloud of intelligent energy that remnants of a once physical mind that is determined to manifest itself, Pulls ionized atoms from the atmosphere and begins to bring them together in such a way and in sufficient quantities that under ideal conditions it accumulates enough mass to reflect light or be detectable to sensitive equipment. But is such an idea even potenially feasible? Yet even if all of this is true how might a ghost be able to make use of such energy? What mechanism could permit a disembodied personality to create something like plasma, or at a minimum accumulate enough energy to create an electromagnetic signature or produce an image on a picture. Through the sheer energy of thought itself..
This is the view of Joe a member of CPI and is not the view of the whole team...
The Time Slip Theory works from the premise that time is fluid rather than fixed.Time is not linear as we experience it, But exists within a context of a single point of space. If true, It is not hard to believe a person could slip from one point in time to another. Kind of the way we in our normally day would move from one room to another in our house. As such the image of an apparently very solid personality moving through a mansion completely oblivious to the presence of the observer may not be paranormal, but a snapshot from an earlier time that some how played to the observer. This could explain ghost that are residual haunts or manifestation.Residual is were the spirit does the same thing every time it is seen or heard. It is like a film just playing over an over again. Are they just oblivious to our world not cause there dead but cause they somehow stepped out of time. How this could happen is still not known but could explain how ordinary rational people reported being surrounded by ancient time's for minutes even hours. May bee it could explain the spirit's dressed in period clothing also. This is only a theory or hypothesis it is to complex and has flaus but very interesting .(The Case For Ghost Book). I like this theory it is interesting and could maybe explain other things like the Bermuda triangle maybe the ships and airplanes have time jumped to some other point. This could explain also the accounts of seeing the occasional ghost ship at sea maybe it is from a different time an crossed over to ours. What about the accounts of Ufo's hovering in the sky an just disappointing into thin air as if it was to just fade away. This theory is just that a theory while no one can actually prove it or disprove this to account to anything paranormal it still does give us something to thing about as we do our investigating to further the field of paranormal research. We must be able to see both sides of the field and take a objective look at the paranormal so that one day we may be able to understand the why, whats and how of the field. There is no one explanation to the paranormal I think it is very complex an there must be a reason an explanation to it, But will we ever know. Edison,Einstein, Gallalo, all have noted paranormal experience's that long ago an still no answer to the paranormal says this field is one that will always be in the unknown category of time. Many will look for the explanation but I think when it is time for us to know it will be time. Can it be a higher power keeping the answer hidden or is that it is a simple answer an we are looking to hard for the complex answer to be able to justify or even discount that this is even a possibility. Ghost Hunters will have fun trying to find the answers to the paranormal, Or even to have an experience of the paranormal . I hope you enjoyed this look at Time Slip Theory and what I thought about it .Please feel free to comment or to add a thought to it I will post more theories soon..

A popular belief is that ghost may be able to communicate through telepathy, It's been suggested ghost prefer to communicate this way for it is easier for them . Some believe that this is how a ghost can move objects. Spirits might have a easier time communicating with us when we are in a unconscious state such as realm sleep and also be able to communicate and manifest itself to us.Ghost might be able to produce a image of themselves in our mind's eye to use as an aid in communicating with us that our senses fall for and mistake for physical reality. If true it would mean that an apparent hallucination or a walking dream could still be an authentic attempt at communication from the other side. In addition it would also explain why some ghost appear so substantive, even to the point where they can be touched and converse with and why they can appear to one person in a group an not be seen by the others. This idea might also go far in explaining those meaningful an timely dreams we sometimes experience that seem to impact out life in a significant way. Of course, ghostly telepathy does not explain why we sometimes can catch a spirit on film or detected by instruments, nor does it explain how a ghost could manifest itself to two or more people at once. All tough it does appeal to the paranormal investigator in that it does explain some especially credible encounters for which there exists no physical evidence, as we;; as opens another door by which a disembodied consciousness might be able to interact with its loved ones without manifesting itself. Although such a possibility could have a darker implications as well. Telepathy would go far in explaining alien abductions as well as its forerunner attacks upon woman by a night time apparition known as succubus that was commonly reported in Victorian times. How ever if ghost do communicate with us this way how come they do not interact with us more often and further why don't they appear regularly to everyone. We all sleep , we all dream, we all lost loved ones we might desire to keep in touch with . So then why is not reported more than it is? My thoughts on this is - It could also explain a possession of a person by an spirit or demon that is if it can control our thoughts and dreams it can also make us to do what ever it wants us to without even being in us.. This theory also can not explain a residual haunt or impression. If it is telepathy the spirits use why would they keep doing the same thing as they were doing when they were still in human form, also how can a residual haunt do the exact same thing at the exact same time in the same place all the time. But then if it is residual it is not always seen by everyone. And if this is true why would we be able to see , hear or even feel a spirit around us . If it was telepathy we would not see it in front us it would be in our minds or dreams. All though there are flaus with this theory also it may very well be possible.

Well I don't think NASA believes in 2012 but they do have some interesting reports for 2012. The sun is currently near the minimum of its 11-year activity cycle. It is expected that solar storms will increase in frequency and intensity toward the next solar maximum, expected to occur around 2012.
The image shows a scenario presented by a study participant of extreme space weather that leads to a partial, wide-spread collapse of the U.S. electric power grid with enormous consequences for the affected population. Improvements in space weather forecasting, public awareness and infrastructure preparedness can mitigate the effects. Credit: NASA A NASA-funded study describes how extreme solar eruptions could have severe consequences for communications, power grids and other technology on Earth.
The National Academy of Sciences in Washington conducted the study. The resulting report provides some of the first clear economic data that effectively quantifies today's risk of extreme conditions in space driven by magnetic activity on the sun and disturbances in the near-Earth environment. Instances of extreme space weather are rare and are categorized with other natural hazards that have a low frequency but high consequences. "Obviously, the sun is Earth's life blood," said Richard Fisher, director of the Heliophysics division at NASA Headquarters in Washington. "To mitigate possible public safety issues, it is vital that we better understand extreme space weather events caused by the sun's activity." Besides emitting a continuous stream of plasma called the solar wind, the sun periodically releases billions of tons of matter called coronal mass ejections. These immense clouds of material, when directed toward Earth, can cause large magnetic storms in the magnetosphere and upper atmosphere. Such space weather can affect the performance and reliability of space-borne and ground-based technological systems. Space weather can produce solar storm electromagnetic fields that induce extreme currents in wires, disrupting power lines, causing wide-spread blackouts and affecting communication cables that support the Internet. Severe space weather also produces solar energetic particles and the dislocation of the Earth's radiation belts, which can damage satellites used for commercial communications, global positioning and weather forecasting. Space weather has been recognized as causing problems with new technology since the invention of the telegraph in the 19th century.
A severe space weather event is likely when an intense flare occurs on the Earth-facing side of the sun. In 2003, this flare (left image) is followed immediately by an enormous interplanetary blast wave (right image) called coronal mass ejection or CME that propagates rapidly away from the sun towards Earth. Depending on severity and nature of the storm, the collision with Earth's magnetic field called a geomagnetic storm can affect satellites, air travel and power grids. Credit: NASA A catastrophic failure of commercial and government infrastructure in space and on the ground can be mitigated through raising public awareness, improving vulnerable infrastructure and developing advanced forecasting capabilities. Without preventive actions or plans, the trend of increased dependency on modern space-weather sensitive assets could make society more vulnerable in the future. NASA requested the study to assess the potential damage from significant space weather during the next 20 years. National and international experts from industry, government and academia participated in the study. The report documents the possibility of a space weather event that has societal effects and causes damage similar to natural disasters on Earth. "From a public policy perspective, it is quite significant that we have begun the extremely challenging task of assessing space weather impacts in a quantitative way," said Daniel Baker, professor and director of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Baker chaired the panel that prepared the report. "Whether it is terrestrial catastrophes or extreme space weather incidents, the results can be devastating to modern societies that depend in a myriad of ways on advanced technological systems," said Baker. "We were delighted that NASA helped support bringing together dozens of world experts from industry and government to share their experiences and begin planning of improved public policy strategies." The geomagnetic storms' effects can be visualized over the U.S. by showing changes of the electron density in the Earth's outermost atmospheric layers. The before image shows the ionosphere electron density as high over wide parts of the lower 48 states. The after image shows electrons strongly diminished over the central and northeastern parts of the U.S, and increased over the northwest. Extreme, rapid changes in the ionosphere can inflict strong currents in the power grid that may lead to blackouts. Credit: NASA The sun is currently near the minimum of its 11-year activity cycle. It is expected that solar storms will increase in frequency and intensity toward the next solar maximum, expected to occur around 2012. The Heliophysics Division of NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington provided funding for the study. The division seeks to understand the sun, its solar processes and the interaction of solar plasma and radiation with Earth, other planets and the universe. Understanding the connections between the sun and its planets will allow better prediction on the impacts of solar activity on humans, technological systems and even the presence of life itself in the universe. The Explorers program, a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago, is training thousands of young people in skills used to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence — an intense ratcheting up of one of the group’s longtime missions to prepare youths for more traditional jobs as police officers and firefighters. NewYork Times
This is a chilling article. Can you say Hitler’s youth program. Can we ever learn from history training children for military or law enforcement purpose never benefited society.
Is this the literal creation of Hitler-Jugend style youth brigades designed to act as the front line for eventual programs of mass internment and gun confiscation in the advent of a national emergency?
In Nazi Germany, the Hitler Youth succeeded the Boy Scout movement. Hitler Youth training was militarized in comparison to the Boy Scout network, which was largely based around education. Boys aged fourteen and upwards, as well as a separate branch aged 10-14, were trained at preparatory schools to become future Nazi leaders. At its height in 1940, and after it had become mandatory to join, the Hitler Youth boasted no less than 8 million members.
Apparently in a shift away from the traditional Boy Scouts activities of sports, camping, survival skills and team leadership, the government is now training children “to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence” under the banner of the Explorers program, with the aid of military-style exercises aimed at subduing insurgents.
Ah, nothing new to see here. It’s been done before…
You take the dullest, most aggressive bullies in the playground, the ones who will never question “authority” of any kind, ones who will follow no matter what the order, you tell them they are “special”, that they must protect the nation from the insidious terrorists at home and abroad, and you give them special toys to play with and shiny ribbons and medals that feed into their need to belong… and what do you have? Anneliese Michel was a German Catholic woman who was said to be possessed by demons and subsequently underwent an exorcism. Two motion pictures, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem, are loosely based on Michel's story.
In 1948, Anneliese’s mother Anna, gave birth to Martha a illegitmate daughter. The mother, bringing such disgrace on her family was forced to wear a black viel on her wedding day.
Anneliese was born 1952; her mother encouraged her to atone to the sins of illegitmacy through fervent devotion. Martha Died from complications from an operation to remove a kidney tumor, Anneliese must have felt ever more stongly the pressure to do pennance for her mother at a young age.
Anneliese found herself increasily surrounded by evidence of sinfulness and was anxious to get rid of it. In 1968, at age 17 she began to suffer from epilepsy and possible schizophrenia. The devotion to their religion, and other mitigating family circunmstance, made it impossible for Anneliese to obtian proper medical treatment that would save her live.
By 1973, she was suffering serve depression and considered suicide. Voices in hear head told her she was dammed.
In 1975, after several request for an exorcism, it was finally granted by Bishop of Wurzburg. At this stage, Anneliese refused medical intervention from the psychiatric clinic. The exorcism was performed by Fr Arnold Renz and Pastor Ernst Alt according to the 1614 Rituate Romenum. One to two four hour sessions a week were held over nine months. Arnold Renz and Ernst Alt indentified serval demons, including Lucifer, Judas Iscariot, Nero, Cain, Legion, and Belial. She also claimed to be possessed by Hilter.
Anneliese’s knees were destroyed by doing 600 genuflection. She contacted pneumonia and died at the age of 23 from sever dehyderation and malnourishment. She was buried next to her illeginamate sister Martha at the outer edges of the cemetery.
Anneliese last words to her exorcists,“Beg for Absolution” and to her mother “ I’m afraid”.
Trial and courtroom charges
After an investigation, the state prosecutor maintained that Michel's death could have been prevented even one week before she died. He charged all four defendants—Pastor Ernst Alt and Father Arnold Renz as well as the parents—with negligent homicide for failing to call a medical doctor.
The defense played tapes recorded at the exorcism sessions, sometimes featuring what was claimed to be "demons arguing", as proof that Michel was indeed possessed. Both priests presented their deeply held conviction that she was possessed and that she was finally freed by exorcism just before she died.
Ultimately, the accused were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and were sentenced to a six months suspended sentence and three years probation. It was a far lighter sentence than anticipated by most people. Yet, it was more than demanded by the prosecution, who had asked that the priests only be fined and that the parents be found guilty but not punished.
Exhumation
Before the trial, the parents asked the authorities for permission to exhume the remains of their daughter. They did so as a result of a message received from a Carmelite nun from the district of Allgäu in southern Bavaria. The nun had told the parents that a vision had revealed to her that their daughter's body was still intact and that this authenticated the supernatural character of her case. The official reason presented by the parents to authorities was that Michel had been buried in undue hurry in a cheap coffin. Almost two years after the burial, on February 25, 1978, her remains were replaced in a new oak coffin lined with tin.
The official reports (to date undisputed by any authority) state that the body bore the signs of consistent deterioration. The accused exorcists were discouraged from seeing the remains of Michel. Father Arnold Renz later stated that he had been prevented from entering the mortuary.
